OUR MISSION STATEMENT
To Educate
Through educational events, we hope to inspire a better
understanding and
appreciation of the breed. We hope to change the minds, and dispel any of the
damaging myths surrounding the
breed. We work hard to promote responsible
ownership practices, and teach
Pit Bull owners how to help their dogs become
a respectable members of the
community.
To Support
We hold regular meetups at various locations where members can
come and play with
the dogs, as well as enjoy each other's company.
We are a
very diverse group of people with a wide range of interests and
experience, brought
together by our love of the American Pit Bull Terrier.

The Story Of Gateway American Pit Bull Terrier Club
In
November 2005 a small group of APBT enthusiasts met on an online
message board and decided it would be fun to meet up at a local park
and talk "dog".
Only about 5 people showed up and it was really cold outside but we
enjoyed sharing stories and we even decided it would be fun to do this
again sometime.
And so the club was born. We invested in an online meetup site, and a yahoo group and we scheduled a few more meetups...
It was soon discovered that the demand
for a Pit Bull Club in St. Louis was higher than anyone could have
imagined and it became very clear that we needed to get a bit more
organized. A President and Vice President were chosen, and a website
was designed, and formal meetings and organized events soon followed.
 
It wasn't long before we had grown large
enough to start hosting Informational Booths at local dog events in St.
Louis. Volunteers from the club work hard educating the public about
the true nature of the APBT, and breed ambassadors work the crowd to
show how friendly and fun our breed really is!
We even organized our first Pit Bull Education Seminar last spring and hope to make it a yearly event!
Each year brings us new club members, new events, and plenty of
fun and memorable experiences.
